The European Union may impose an embargo on Russian oil and gas as early as this week. The ambassadors of the EU member states will meet for this on Wednesday.
According to Financial Times sources, EU ambassadors will discuss a new sanctions package against Russia on April 6, reports rbc.ua
It is assumed that personal sanctions will be expanded, a ban on Russian ships visiting EU ports will be introduced, export restrictions and embargoes on energy supplies such as coal, oil and gas will be approved.
Earlier, European Commissioner for Economic Affairs Paolo Gentiloni said that the new sanctions against Russia will not affect the energy sector.
It was also reported that Germany, Austria and Hungary oppose stopping energy imports from Russia.
