The United States and the Republic of Moldova today signed a Memorandum of Understanding to initiate the sale of the property on which the new U.S. Embassy and new public park will be built.
The new U.S. Embassy complex will include a public park as well as a symbolic stadium gate and the construction of a world-class diplomatic corps that will demonstrate the strength and sustainability of the partnership between the two countries, replicamedia.md reported.
“I thank the government and the people of the Republic of Moldova for fulfilling a commitment first made in 2015 that allowed us to purchase land to build our new embassy. I expect the United States to continue to be a strong partner, and the new embassy will be a good neighbor to Chisinau for years to come,” he said.
Recall that on April 21, the Parliament approved in the first reading the draft ratification of the Agreement, drawn up by exchange of notes, between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of the United States of America on land for the construction of the U.S. Embassy in Moldova.
