Press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov said at a briefing under what conditions a peaceful settlement of the situation in Ukraine is possible. Asked by a journalist whether the Kremlin was aware of the plan for the peaceful settlement of the situation in Ukraine, Peskov replied positively, gazeta.ru reported. “A peace treaty is possible after Ukraine fulfills all the conditions of the Russian Federation. Ukraine knows everything perfectly well,” the Kremlin spokesman explained. Earlier, former senior US military officer National Interest columnist David Pine said in a piece that Ukraine should recognize Crimea as Russia’s territory and declare a neutral status, as it corresponds to American political interests. In his piece, Pine offered 15 clauses for a peace settlement. Among them are giving up all ties with NATO, changing the constitution of Ukraine to declare neutral status and Ukraine’s renunciation of claims to Crimea, reducing the army to 150,000 men and the reserve to 100,000 men, and restoring diplomatic relations with Russia.
