Turkish leader once again expressed readiness to mediate between Russia and Ukraine
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called on his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to “give the talks another chance” and take measures aimed at reducing tensions and leading to a “more positive development”.
Erdogan’s office reported Thursday that the Turkish leader, during a telephone conversation with Putin, again suggested that Turkey mediate between Moscow and Kyiv.
Erdogan also called for an extension of an agreement to export millions of tons of grain through the Black Sea brokered by the United Nations and Turkey.
The agreement expires in November.
Turkey, as a NATO member, maintains close ties with Moscow and Kyiv.
