UK Prime Minister Starmer Announces Resignation

Keir Starmer announced his resignation during a special address from Downing Street. Starmer stated that he is stepping down as leader of the Labor Party and has informed the King of his decision, according to European Pravda. “Every decision I have made has been guided by my determination to put first the country that I love. That is why I will resign as Leader of the Labor Party. This morning, I spoke with His Majesty the King to inform him of my decision,” Starmer said. He noted that he had asked the Labor Party’s National Executive Committee to approve a timetable for the leadership election process, with nominations set to open on July 9. “In the event of a contest, this will ensure that a new leader is in place before Parliament returns in September. I will remain Prime Minister until the election process is complete and will do everything possible to ensure an orderly transition of power,” Starmer stated.
