Electricity suppliers Premier Energy and Furnizarea Energiei Electrice Nord (FEE-Nord) ask the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) to increase electricity tariffs. According to the companies’ appeals published on ANRE’s website, Premier Energy, the largest electricity supplier in Moldova (which serves central and southern consumers) requests a 6.39 lei/kWh tariff for end-users, 1.62 lei higher than the current tariff. FEE-Nord asks to raise the tariff for north consumers up to 5.68 lei/kWh from December 1, which is 87 bani higher than the current rate. On Thursday, November 17, the Commission for Emergencies held a meeting to adopt a number of new decisions, including those related to the energy crisis. Following the Commission’s decision, ANRE can now adjust the electricity tariff on an emergency basis. Where objective factors exist that cause the need to increase/decrease the tariffs of service providers for end consumers by more than 1%, the National Energy Regulatory Agency will adjust the electricity supply tariff under an emergency, the document said. The objective factors cited include: - changes in the electricity purchase prices, - fluctuations in the exchange rate of the national currency, - adoption of regulatory acts affecting the cost of supply. Recall, on November 2, ANRE’s Board of Directors reviewed and approved the new electricity tariffs at an open meeting. The tariff for Premier Energy network consumers was set at 4.77 lei/kWh and for north consumers – 4.81 lei/kWh. These tariffs are valid since November 4. Nokta
