SA Energocom purchased first 24 MWh of natural gas on the Romanian Commodity Exchange, 1 MWh per hour. The price of one MWh was almost 49 euros, according to the Energocom statement. The purchase was designed at testing a new mechanism for purchasing natural gas and developing a new supply chain, the source said. According to the radiomoldova.md, the gas will be resold to SA Moldovagaz, and the price shall not include the cost of transportation. The acting director of the company, Victor Binzari, says that the aim was to diversify the channels of natural gas supplies in search of affordable sources and ensure the country’s energy security. The company’s press release also states that Energocom is currently looking for partners in various countries to make new gas purchases and take advantage of the favorable price situation.
