The former economy minister believes that after the authorities gained control over the Chisinau airport, the management of the facility became inefficient, and this is a bad signal for everyone, including the diaspora, but also for those who visit our country. Moreover, according to Octavian Calmic, the airport auction scandal will be felt for years to come, reports ziua.md. “I have seen how the airport in Chisinau has developed since its takeover by a foreign investor, improving the infrastructure, optimizing traffic and many other positive elements. And we’ve also seen the reverse process - a return to state hands. And that worries me. I was there recently; I queued for three hours and almost missed my flight. I used to usually go to the airport 50 minutes before my flight. Personally, it had a big impact on me. And I don’t understand why we don’t have more flights, more passengers. If you look at the statistics, we had even more flights. At most we had more than 130 takeoffs and landings a day. It’s bad management. Moreover, an even more serious issue is that those who wait and those who meet are not allowed into the airport. This is inadmissible in any country,” Calmic said. When asked how he sees the case involving the auction of commercial premises at the airport ending, Calmic said that “the auction will end, but its echo will be heard for many years and definitely not a pleasant one.” The former minister also believes that the problems at the Chisinau airport are a bad signal not only for the diaspora, but also for those who visit Moldova.
