Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Doina Nistor stated that Romania is Moldova’s most important friend and number one partner in terms of investment and trade relations. Statistics show that in 2024, the trade turnover between the two banks of the Prut amounted to $ 7 billion, tvrmoldova.md reports. “I have met several entrepreneurs who want to invest in Moldova. A few weeks ago, I discussed this with a large group, one of the largest construction materials manufacturing groups, which wants to invest in the south of the country, and I see the advantages of Moldova for continuing these investments,” Doina Nistor said. “Moreover, we are currently discussing with our colleagues in Romania the possibility of integrating into the capital market. We are negotiating with the Bucharest Stock Exchange, which has announced its intention to enter the Republic of Moldova. Last week, colleagues from the government and the National Committee for Financial Stability were in Bucharest to exchange experiences, and I believe that integration into the capital market with Romania will open new doors or new investment opportunities.” The Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization added that a 15% increase in business investment was recorded in 2024, against a decline two years earlier. “It’s a sign of confidence on the part of entrepreneurs that they want to develop their businesses here in the country,” Nistor said. According to the minister, about 42% of the total exports are services. “In the last 5-7 years, we have the fastest growth in IT in the region. So, we have a growing IT industry. We also have growth in the HoReCa industry. We are talking about the tourism industry, which suffered during the pandemic. We recorded growth last year and I believe it will persist,” the minister emphasized.
