Home / Economy / Moldova to Continue Denouncing Agreements Incompatible with EU Policy
The process of adjusting international economic agreements will lead to the modification, revision, or even termination of certain trade agreements as the country advances on its path toward European integration.
According to the authorities, this stage is necessary to harmonize Moldova’s trade and investment policy with European Union legislation and the EU’s common trade policy. The process is expected to be carried out gradually and in coordination with external partners and the business community in order to ensure continuity in trade and economic relations and to safeguard the country’s economic interests, logos-press.md reports.
This was discussed during the event “European Integration and Trade Policy: Opportunities and Challenges for the Economy of the Republic of Moldova”, organized by the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization. State Secretary Cristina Ceban stated that joining the European Union is not only a political objective but also a profound transformation of the national economy.
“The revision and harmonization of Moldova’s international economic agreements represent a necessary and important stage in the European integration process. It is essential to assess their compatibility with EU legislation and the Union’s common trade policy,” the official emphasized.
The event also presented studies conducted by international experts on the impact of EU accession on Moldovan exports, import structure, and trade policy. Approaches to harmonizing investment agreements with European standards were also analyzed.
The discussions brought together representatives of state institutions, the business community, and international experts, including specialists previously involved in Croatia’s EU accession process, who shared experience and best practices on adapting trade and investment policy during the pre-accession period.
