The next government will not undergo any significant changes, and most of the current ministers will retain their posts. This was stated by the Speaker of Parliament and PAS leader Igor Grosu in comments to journalists. “We will move on to discussing the composition of the government once we have finalized the choice of Prime Minister. Naturally, the candidate himself will also have a say in putting together the team. But personally, I do not see the need for major changes to the government’s composition. Most ministers are doing their jobs well, and we need to preserve institutional memory and continuity, particularly on matters of European integration,” said Grosu, according to deschide.md. He also outlined what he believes the PAS-nominated candidate for the post of prime minister should be like. “This must undoubtedly be a courageous person, ready to take responsibility for implementing unpopular reforms. 2026 will be a decisive year in terms of implementing less popular reforms. We are talking about public administration reform, fiscal and tax reform, reform of the wage system and other changes that need to be carried out. If this is not done, the problems will not disappear – they will simply be postponed,” Grosu emphasized. It should be recalled that last Friday, Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu submitted his resignation. Later, President Maia Sandu announced that consultations with parliamentary groups on the formation of a new government would begin as early as this week. The exact date and time of the consultations have not yet been determined.
