Prime Minister Ion Chicu and the head of OSCE Mission to Moldova Claus Neukirch have exchanged views on developments in the process of settlement of the Transnistrian issue. PM has emphasised the important role of OSCE as mediator in solving the Transnistrian issue and confirmed the interest of Government in intensifying dialogue of talks in 5+2 format, moldpres.md reports. The head of OSCE Mission to Moldova has welcomed the good cooperation of Government led by Ion Chicu in the process of conducting negotiations on the Transnistrian issue, noting the positive developments in implementation of justice reform. The officials have exchanged views on the progress made on Transnistrian agenda, including the measures provided for in Protocol 5+2 from Bratislava, in compromise formula proposed by OSCE Presidency – in – Office, which was accepted by Moldova. The document aims at several activities in the context of the policy of “small steps” and rapprochement of the citizens on both sides of the Dniester river, so as to ensure freedom of movement, respect for human rights in the region and final decision of the Latin script schools problem. “We hope that the Bratislava Protocol will be signed and this fact will help maintain a positive dynamic in the negotiation process,” said Ion Chicu.
