The Action and Solidarity Party chairman, former Prime Minister Maia Sandu does not exclude the possibility that before the presidential election planned for the end of this year, she might call on citizens to go out in streets. The politician says that this may possible happen in a difficult social situation as a result of tariffs and prices increase for various products, ipn.md reports “This country has the highest prices and the lowest salaries,” explained Maia Sandu. According to her, the idea of holding protests was discussed, including with citizens, at meetings with them in regions. “We thought about this, we spoke with people, we participate in the campaign ... We do not exclude the possibility of protests,” Maia Sandu explained on the air of the “About Us” program on Jurnal TV channel. In addition, the chairman of the PDS says that it is impossible to completely exclude the option of nominating a single candidate from the ACUM bloc in the autumn presidential election but he should be very popular and he should be chosen on the basis of the criterion that he has the greatest chance of defeating Igor Dodon, who, most likely will run for the second term. “I do not pretend to be the only possible candidate. If there is a person with the highest chance of defeating Dodon then we are ready to discuss it but so far we only hear theoretical considerations,” the former prime minister said. The politician claims that one of the strategies for “fighting” for the president’s chair with Igor Dodon could be an earlier candidate disclosure and not late, as it happened in 2016, when the ACUM bloc nominated Maia Sandu as presidential candidate.
