Donald Trump on Wednesday, February 26, extended for a year a series of sanctions against Russia due to the situation with Ukraine. The corresponding decree was published by the White House press service. Now these sanctions will be valid until March 6, 2021. These restrictive measures were introduced by Barack Obama in 2014 to protect the territorial integrity of Ukraine. "The actions and policies of the Russian government, including the alleged annexation of Crimea and the use of force in Ukraine, continue to pose a threat to US security and US foreign policy," the Trump decree says. Democrats demand sanctions increasing The sanctions introduced in 2014 are renewed annually, if canceled, the president must notify the US Congress within 90 days. Restrictive measures include Russian banks and companies, large entrepreneurs, high-ranking officials of the Russian Federation, the government of former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, and so on. A day earlier, Democratic senators demanded new sanctions against Russia for interfering in the upcoming US presidential elections in November this year.
