Initiative Groups Registration Begins in Moldova

Initiative groups to support presidential candidates can submit the documents necessary for registration with the Central Election Commission starting with September 1. According to the Election Code provisions, an initiative group to support a candidate must consist of at least 25 people and no more than a hundred people with the right to vote. The group is formed after the meeting at which the candidate for the position of the President of the Republic of Moldova is approved, the leader of the group is elected and the list of its members is approved. An initiative group can support only one presidential candidate. Members of one initiative group cannot simultaneously be members of another initiative group, ipn.md reported The Election Commission clarifies that documents must be submitted to the CEC at the address: 119, V. Alexandri str., office 202, on days of September 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, from 09.00 to 17.00. On September 5 and 6, documents can be submitted from 10.00 to 16.00. Within three days after admission the CEC must consider the documents and make a decision on registration or refusal to register the initiative group. Each electoral contestant may conduct election campaigning only starting from the registration with the CEC moment.
