On April 26, the chairman of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) Igor Dodon invited President Maia Sand to discuss date of the early parliamentary elections with parliament members. In his opinion, it should be held only after the epidemiological situation has improved. Dodon also called on Sandu to stop destabilizing the situation in the country and proposed measures to overcome the current crisis. The PSRM leader said that "due to the political inability of the presidential administration to engage in dialogue, society and the country are divided and deprived of effective governance," urging Sandu "to immediately stop all actions provoking the destabilization of the situation in the country." “Unfortunately, some external forces and individual members of the Constitutional Court intervened in these political games. This led to a violation of constitutional norms and previous recommendations of the Council of Europe and the Venice Commission regarding the nomination of a candidate for prime minister appointed by the parliamentary majority,” Dodon wrote in Telegram. Dodon proposed measures that in his opinion will help stop "actions provoking the destabilization of the situation in Moldova." “I propose, first, to urgently start an institutional dialogue between the parliament and the presidential apparatus. Secondly, together to set a date for early parliamentary elections - immediately after a steady decline in the number of new cases of coronavirus infection is recorded. Third, to approve all the necessary documents to ensure the normal conduct of early elections, including decisions on the allocation of funds. Fourth, to develop a roadmap for managing the economic, social and pandemic situation in the country over the next months - before the early parliamentary elections and the formation of a new government based on their results. Fifth, to create a joint commission on constitutional reform with the participation of experts from the Council of Europe, which will analyze the causes of political crises in our country in recent years and the role of the Constitutional Court in provoking them, starting in 2013, as well as measures to can be taken to further avoid such situations that compromise the Constitution,” Dodon wrote. Recall, about 100 people came today, on April 26, to the building of the Constitutional Court in Chisinau to express their protest against the usurpation of power by the socialists. The protesters also intend to try preventing from entering the building Boris Lupascu who appointed by the deputies of the judges of the Constitutional Court.
