Former head of state Igor Dodon said that for the first time in the history of Moldova the national debt exceeds 100 billion lei. “In the 24-25 months that Maia Sandu has been in charge of the country, the state debt has increased by 35 billion lei,” Dodon said in the Discuss Together program, unimedia.info reports “For the first time in Moldova's history, the state debt exceeds 100 billion lei. In the 24-25 months that Maia Sandu has led the country, the state debt has increased by 35 billion lei. Every day of Maya Sandu's stay in power costs us additional 30-40 million lei to the state debt. This money will have to be returned by the citizens,” said Igor Dodon. Earlier, former Prime Minister Ion Chicu wrote that for 25 months in office Maia Sandu increased the national debt by 30.4 billion lei. According to him, in January 2023, the state debt increased by another 3.6 billion lei. “When every day Maia Sandu shares with us the “good” news about the hundreds of millions of euros and dollars she brought from abroad as aid from foreigners, we are in fact talking about heavy debts placed on the shoulders of our children,” Chicu noted.
