Home / Economy / Forta Fermierilor: Agriculture Ministry Agrees to Three Key Demands
The Forta Fermierilor Association has announced that the Minister of Agriculture has agreed to a number of the agricultural sector’s strategic demands. According to the organization, a final response on the mechanisms for implementing these measures is expected by June 15.
The association stated that it held detailed negotiations this week with Minister of Agriculture Ludmila Catlabuga. Following the discussions, the minister reportedly agreed to three key demands put forward by farmers, rupor.md reports.
These include the introduction of direct per-hectare payments for grain and oilseed crops starting in 2027, the full reimbursement of excise duties on diesel fuel used for agricultural work beginning in 2026, and guarantees that farmers’ tax burden will not increase if the VAT rate is eventually raised to 20%.
According to the association, the minister requested time until June 15 to clarify the implementation details of these measures and to hold additional consultations with the Minister of Finance.
Forta Fermierilor welcomed the ministry’s position and expressed its readiness to continue dialogue on support measures for micro, small, and medium-sized farmers in rural areas.
At the same time, the association’s council unanimously decided to intensify outreach efforts among farmers across the country and to prepare, if necessary, for protests similar to those organized by farmers in other European countries.
