Sanctions affect Russian politicians and the entourage of the former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych. U.S. President Donald Trump extended the restrictive measures against Russia imposed in 2014 because of the situation in Ukraine for another year. The corresponding document was published on the White House website on Monday, March 4th. The presidential decree notes that sanctions are being extended due to an extreme threat to the interests of national security and US foreign policy. The decision sets sanctions against persons undermining democratic processes and institutions in Ukraine. Thus, the sanctions affect Russian politicians and the entourage of the former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych. They also operate against Russian enterprises and the self-proclaimed “DPR” and “LPR”. Recall that on February 20 it became known that the EU member-states unanimously decided to extend until September 15 the sanctions against Russia imposed because of the situation in Ukraine. The decision will be approved by the EU Council and will enter into force in the first week of March. The Kremlin claims that the Russian economy has largely adapted to both existing sanctions and to their possible toughening. Source: korrespondent.net
