Since January 1, 2019, the gas price for Moldova is $ 237.46 per thousand cubic meters. This is 25% more than the price for the first three months of the last year, Mold-street reports with reference to the letter of the National Agency for Energy Regulation. The National Agency for Energy Regulation reported that since 2018 Moldova (excluding Transnistria) imported 1.13 billion cubic meters of gas, 9.3% more than in 2017. This is the largest volume of imported gas since 2011. About 45% of annual consumption was in the first three months of last year. Answering the question of whether the tariffs for citizens will be adjusted after the rise in price, the National Agency for Energy Regulation noted that Moldovagaz as of March 13 has not yet submitted an annual report for 2018, although it should be done before March 20. Accordingly, there was no request on changing the tariffs. It should be recalled that in February Mold-street.com reported that in Moldova after the parliamentary elections gas tariffs might  significantly increase. And the reason is a gradual increasing of import prices: in 2018, the cost of gas imports increased by one third. Moreover, when calculating gas tariffs in 2018, the average price per cubic meter of gas was — $178.5. But in the last quarter of the year, the cost of one cubic meter of imported gas increased by almost $100. As a result, there was a shortcoming— about 700 million lei, which can be covered only by raising tariffs. Then the National Agency for Energy Regulation denied information about a possible gas tariffs increase after parliamentary elections. Source: Newsmaker
