Possible sale of U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Ukraine is complicated with the situation around the Kerch Strait, told reporters Dan Brouillette, Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy on the sidelines of the CERAWeek energy conference. “The situation, of course, has been changed a bit”, he said. According to Mr. Brouillette, shipping in the black sea region is quite complicated due to the situation around the Kerch Strait. “So I do not know whether it is a viable market for LNG, but we will be happy to study it”, said Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy. On November 25, 2018, Russian border guards detained three Ukrainian ships with 24 crew members in the Kerch Strait. The FSB claims that they illegally crossed the Russian border. All Ukrainian sailors were arrested until April. Source: Kommersant
