Chair of the Communist Party Vladimir Voronin sent a statement to the Parliament today, announcing that he would no longer participate in plenary sessions in protest against the law on the language renaming. “I am boycotting parliamentary sessions until the Constitutional Court makes a decision on this law,” the statement signed by Vladimir Voronin says, unimedia.info reports. The wording “Moldovan language” will be replaced by “Romanian language” in all legislation of the Republic of Moldova. The wordings “official language”, “state language” and “native language” will also be replaced. The project was voted in two readings. 58 deputies voted for the bill in the second reading. The BECS fraction did not participate in the voting.
