Home / Society / Farmers Push for Extension of Restrictions on Grain and Oilseed Imports
Moldovan farmers have expressed concern over the expiry of licenses for imports of grain and oilseed crops from Ukraine. They urge the government to extend the restrictions in order to support local producers. The Power of Farmers Association has voiced concerns about the possible liberalization of imports of grain and oilseeds. Agrarians claim that such a step may aggravate the crisis in the sector and even lead to its complete collapse. Farmers are also concerned about the possible licensing of wheat, maize and sunflower imports from Moldova to Romania. This could lead to the loss of the main market for local agricultural producers.
