Ukraine Found a Replacement for Russian Gas

Ukraine tries to ensure establishing gas supplies to the country through the Trans-Balkan gas pipeline starting with January 1, 2020, when, according to the agreement, the transit of Russian gas through the country will stop, stated  Sergiy Makogon, Gas Transmission System Operator on his Facebook. “Southern European countries are actively diversifying deliveries: Caspian gas via TANAP and LNG creates a good competition to Russian gas. We are looking forward to ensuring supplying gas to Ukraine from the southern direction through the TRANS-Balkan gas pipeline starting with January”, Makogon said. He noted that earlier Qatari gas was first delivered to the Greek LNG terminal on a Q-Flex class LNG vessel which can carry more than 210 thousand cubic meters of liquefied gas. Ukraine has suspended purchases of Russian gas since November 25, 2015. Currently, Ukraine buys reverse gas from Slovakia, Hungary and Poland. RNS
