Individuals will be able to purchase land in Ukraine from July 1, 2021. Land market will be open for legal entities in 2024. On Tuesday, March 31,  Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted, in the second reading, the law abolishing the moratorium on  agricultural land sale from July 1, 2021. 259 deputies supported the bill, 209 of them are members of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky party Servant of People. In addition, parliamentarians from the European Solidarity, Golos and Dovira groups supported the initiative. Law on land sale in Ukraine Until 2024, only individuals can buy land. The area acquired by one buyer in this case should not exceed 100 hectares. Since 2024, legal entities will be able to buy agricultural land in Ukraine. The limit of land area acquired by one buyer will be increased to 10,000 hectares. Privatization of state land, however, will be prohibited. As for the possibility of buying land in Ukraine by foreigners, this issue will have to be resolved in the referendum. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) insists on land reform in Ukraine. However, discussions about land reform in the country are accompanied by massive protests. Opponents of the land sale law in Ukraine are the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council (EAC), the Association of Farmers and Landowners of Ukraine and several parties and public organizations.
