Nicusor Dan, an independent candidate in Romania’s presidential election, has said that as president he will demand NATO intervention if Russia attacks Moldova. “I will do so, but it is important to do everything in our power to avoid such a scenario. It is important that Europe strengthens its military capabilities to deter such aggression. At the same time, it is necessary to support Ukraine, as it is the guarantor of Moldova’s security,” Nicusor Dan said, as quoted by news.ro. He argues that by increasing military spending, Europe should negotiate with the US administration so that the possible withdrawal of US troops from Europe is gradual and can be offset. Furthermore, Nicusor Dan does not believe that NATO will require compulsory military service in European countries. “I don’t think it will happen because NATO supports professional armies,” Nicusor Dan explained. Recall that according to a Romanian political analyst, the PAS party will support Nicusor Dan in the presidential election.
