Moldova wants a clear perspective of joining the European Union within the Eastern Partnership, and Moldavian authorities have no plans other than those that will lead his country to the EU, said Prime Minister Pavel Filip in an interview for an international radio station. Pavel Filip noted that Moldova’s path towards NATO is more difficult than for other countries, but it is important for Moldova to be persistent and maintain the pro-European course. The Prime Minister added that “following the actions taken by the government together with the parliament over the past 2.5 years, the EU has increased popularity and has reached the highest levels since independence”. In this context the Prime Minister said that we must continue to believe in the European future of the Republic of Moldova. “Independence was achieved by the intellectual elites of Moldova, but, unfortunately, the people of the old Soviet nomenclature immediately came to the country’s leadership. Later those emotions experienced since independence were off, because people have not seen a real improvement in living conditions and over a period, through nostalgia, voted for the Party of Communists. Then, over 8 years they were disappointed and in 2009 pro-European forces came to power. Unfortunately, there were many quarrels in this pro-European coalition, we had to go through crises in 2013 and 2015. It is important now to keep this path entered by our country”, said Filip.
