Ukraine, Romania and Moldova will exchange information, in particular, about operational situation at border crossing points and combating cross-border crime Ukraine joined the Romanian-Moldovan Galati Contact Centre, said Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine ArsenAvakov. “Within the framework of an open agreement between the Government of Romania and the Government of Moldova, we joined the Galati Contact Centre. This is a leap forward toward the fight against international and transnational crime”, said Minister and added that “the goal of the Galati Contact Centre is the swift exchange of information between the border, customs and police departments of the participating countries”. At present, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine is preparing all necessary documents to inform the participating countries on the accession of Ukraine. It is expected that the three countries will be able to exchange the information about legislation of the contracting parties; operational situation at border crossing points; emergency situations at the border and at checkpoints; refusals to enter the territory of the member-states of the Treaty; violation or attempts to violate the legislation of the member states of the Treaty; on combating cross-border crime, trafficking in human beings, illegal migration, smuggling, illicit trafficking in weapons, explosive substances, narcotic substances and psychotropic substances. As UNIAN reported, on September 5, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a decree on joining the agreement between the governments of Romania and Moldova on the establishment and operation of a joint Galati Contact Centre. According to the decree, in accordance with the agreement between the governments of Romania and Moldova on the establishment and operation of a joint Galati Contact Centre, signed on May 31, 2011 in Galati, the relevant authorities from the Ukrainian contracting party are the Administration of the State Border Service, the State Fiscal Service, and the National Police.
