Romanian Company Blue Air Bought Air Moldova

The Romanian company Blue Air bought the state-owned airline Air Moldova for 1.2 billion lei. 50 million lei were transferred to the state budget, and the rest of the money went to pay debts of the Moldovan company, which the investor undertook to cover. Air Moldova was put up for sale to avoid bankruptcy. Last year alone, it lost 190.4 million lei. According to the data, the company’s profit began to decline in 2015. Blue Air is one of the largest airlines in Romania, with a market share of about 21%. It has operating bases in Bucharest, Bacau, Iasi, Constance and Cluj.
