It is necessary the protocol to be ratified by all 29 current members of the alliance to let this country to join NATO. Macedonia took a big step towards joining NATO, after the members of the alliance signed a key document, allowing this small country in the Balkans to become the 30th member of the military bloc. The signing ceremony of the Accession Protocol took place in the presence of Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov and NATO Secretary Jens Stoltenberg on Wednesday. The protocol must be ratified by all 29 NATO members. It is expected that Greece will ratify it first this week. After Macedonia will be called Northern Macedonia and will join the alliance under this name. Perhaps this will happen at the end of this or at the beginning of the next year. Source: Voice of America
