Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak said that the coalition of the Party of Socialists and the ACUM bloc in Moldova could not “be sustainable”. At the same time, according to him, Russia did not take any part in its collapse, said Kozak at a briefing on November 20 following a visit by Moldovan Prime Minister Ion Chicu to Moscow, the Russian Embassy in Moldova reports. Kozak assured that “there was no cooperation and interaction regarding the formation of a new government” between Russia, the European Union and the United States when the PSRM and ACUM coalition was created. He called the unanimity of Moldova’s external partners as “situational” requiring urgent action. “We proposed an approach when a coalition was created to decriminalize the republic, to create conditions for new elections. We understood that such a coalition could not be sustainable. I’m surprised that it could exist for almost six months and we worked together,” said Kozak. He is sure that foreign policy principles are the reason for the disagreement between PSRM and ACUM. At the same time, the Russian Deputy Prime Minister believes that the coalition rift was successful, as the country managed to avoid early elections. Kozak is sure that the new Moldovan government “will not talk about foreign policy priorities, but will work on economic and political development.” “Nothing terrible has happened, we didn’t pull anyone’s strings - neither we, nor, I hope, our European and American partners. This is the sovereign choice of the Republic of Moldova,” said Kozak. Newmaker
