President Igor Dodon claimed he is not to support the land market liberalization that allows foreign citizens coming to the Republic of Moldova acquiring agricultural land. The head of state stated during the broadcast of Moldova Live on a public television channel, ipn.md reported “The most expensive thing in the Republic of Moldova are people and the land. We must not allow this and will not, at least while I am president, I will block the attempt to give foreign citizens the right to buy land,” Igor Dodon said. The head of state claimed that only the Republic of Moldova citizens and resident enterprises have the right to buy land. “If someone from abroad wants to invest, let them come, create an enterprise, invest money in this enterprise and this enterprise can buy land to develop agriculture.” Igor Dodon said that if the company gets liquidated, the land is not to become the property of foreign investors. At the same time, the president believes that such a law adoption is a very risky business.
