In an interview with Europa Liberă, the head of state was asked about the results of her recent visits to a number of European countries. After official visits to Italy and Poland, where she met with the President of Italy and the Prime Minister of Poland, Maia Sandu said that “these visits prove that the international community is open to the Republic of Moldova,” cotidianul.md reports. “For them, the fact that I won the election in favor of an anti-corruption mandate and reform of the justice system is a signal that our society really wants to make these changes, wants to build a fair and independent judiciary and wants to get rid of corruption, and they want to support us in these efforts,” the president said in an interview. According to Maia Sandu, she received several invitations, but some had to be postponed due to the pandemic, and now that the situation has improved slightly, she was able to go on trips abroad. “I went to Italy also because this state is an important member state of the European Union in making decisions, including in relation to the Eastern Partnership countries, and it is good to enlist such support at the level of all countries. I would like to thank them for their help, as well as to establish cooperation in order to strengthen support for the Republic of Moldova in Brussels, in the institutions of the European Union,” Sandu added.
