About this in a commentary to RBC-Ukraine on Thursday, May 14, stated Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba. According to him, Kozak was invited to negotiations in Berlin due to the lack of progress in the Minsk agreements implementation and due to the active approach of the Ukrainian side, which offers new initiatives, in particular, increasing the Trilateral Contact Group representation level. “Obviously, things will move forward if there is constructive reciprocity on the part of Russia. Therefore, the Berlin meeting was needed,” the head of Ukrainian diplomacy said. Kuleba also emphasized that we are not talking about any games behind Ukraine’s back. Kozak is on the EU sanctions list because of the Crimea annexation and the conflict in the Donbass but RBC-Ukraine points out, the German side explained that he was able to visit Germany because he was made an exception due to his status of negotiator for Ukraine.
